The financial education conference Invest Fest is coming back to Atlanta, GA this August.
This will mark the fourth year the conference has been held in the city.
According to Mayor Andre Dickens, Atlanta, GA is home to entrepreneurs and people come to Atlanta “to secure the bag, as they say.”
“You can’t do any of that if you’re not financially literate,” Dickens said at a Thursday press conference announcing dates for the event.
Invest Fest is hosted by Earn Your Leisure (EYL), an extremely popular financial education platform. Earn Your Leisure has partnered with co-founder Rashad Bilal for an amazing event.
It was reported that last year, Invest Fest brought in approximately about 50,000 attendees to the Georgia World Congress Center over a three day span, according to Bilal.
Invest Fest will be held at the same location as last year on Aug. 23-25. Bilal is expecting a turn out of 60,000 people to participate over the course of the weekend this year.
Although Bilal and two of Invest Fest co-founders are based in New York, it made sense to host the conference in Atlanta, GA considering ATL is the Mecca for Black businesses.
“There’s really no other place in America that is similar to it,” Bilal added.
In the past, billionaire investors and philanthropists including Robert Smith, Tyler Perry, Steve Harvey and Dan Cathy has spoke at the conference. According to the Invest Fest Instagram account, Shannon Sharpe will be speaking at this years event.
Bilal is reportedly focusing more on the everyday people and not so much on celebrities this go round. He teased giveaways planned for the conference, with EYL giving a local Atlanta business, Head’s Plumbing, a $5,000 grant at the press conference.
Tickets for the conference go on sale March 23 and will cost $250.
Although the price is a hefty price to pay, Bilal said attendees will get the proper education that he thinks can more than earn them back their hundreds spent on the conference.
“There’s a reason why people go to church, there’s a reason why people go on pilgrimages, right?” he said. “Being around thousands of people is more productive for you as far as on an inspirational, motivational standpoint than just being in your room by yourself.”
